Building the Stall Vane Cover

After seeing the thread on Airforce.com about a stall vane protector I became obsessed with coming up with a solution. I came up with the following design.

Here is the parts list
Plasti Dip
1/4 “ Grommet Kit
Remove before flight ribbon
Wax or some other release agent

The first step is to cut a piece of scrap metal just slightly larger than the Stall Vane.  Coat it with wax or some other type of release agent.

Next, put the scrap metal on a piece of safety and dip it in the Plasti Dip.  This will take several times to get it to the right thickness.  It dries from the outside in so as it hardens you can mold it with your fingers.

Put a grommet in it. When it is all done it should look like this

Add a flag and you are done
